Some of these citations are important because they are rarely found in contemporary poetry of that epoch. The authors of Loghatnāme often did not mention their sources when citing Ghatrān’s verses, but our study shows that their sources were mainly old dictionaries, the published Divān, and possibly some manuscripts. The comparison of these verses with the available manuscripts of Ghatrān’s Divān shows different recordings and new forms of his poetry, based on which many inaccuracies and distortions in Ghatrān’s citations in Loghatnāme can be corrected. In addition, sometimes different recordings of Ghatrān’s verses in Loghatnāme have been used in correcting his poems. شماری از ابیات قطران تبریزی، گویندۀ معروف قرن پنجم هجری، در لغت‌نامۀ دهخدا به‌ عنوان شاهد آمده‌است. اهمّیت بعضی از این شواهد در آن است که آن واژه‌ها در شعر آن روزگار نمونه‌های فراوان ندارند. مؤلّفان لغت‌نامه، غالباً در ذکر ابیات قطران، به منبع یا منابع کار خود اشاره‌ای نکرده‌اند؛ امّا بررسی‌های ما نشان می‌دهد که منبع اوّلیۀ آنان در ذکر این شواهد، بیشتر، فرهنگ‌های لغت کهن، دیوان چاپیِ شاعر، و احتمالاً بعضی نسخه‌های خطّی بوده‌است. سنجش و مقابلۀ این ابیات با نسخه‌های خطّیِ شناخته‌شده از دیوان قطران، ضبط‌های متفاوت و صورت‌های تازه‌ای از شعر او را به دست می‌دهد که، در بسیاری از موارد، سهوهای راه‌یافته به شواهد قطران در لغت‌نامه را تصحیح می‌کند. گفتنی است که گاه ضبط‌های متفاوتی از شعر قطران در لغت‌نامه نیز در تصحیح اشعار او کارگشا بوده‌است.
