This dissertation includes a brief description of the history of calligraphy from the beginning of Islam and its development, master-student genealogy and calligraphers, introduction of calligraphy schools in different periods, classification of calligraphers in terms of the time and geographical place they belong to as well as a brief description of their works.  In addition to calligraphers, in the last part of the treatise, famous artists in the field of book decoration in Iran and the Ottoman period up to the contemporary of the author are introduced. In compiling this treatise, the author has paid attention to the previous notes and his work has been based on compressing and summarizing the information of these sources.<br />The purpose of this article is to introduce the treatise of <em>Calligraphy and Calligraphers</em> and to study  its structure and content; This work is worthy of attention due to the Iranian nationality of the author and also the biography of many Iranian calligraphers - which covers a large part of the book - as an important research work and the common heritage of Iran and the Ottoman Empire, which unfortunately has not been noticed so far. <em>خط و خطاطان</em> رساله‏‏‌‌ای است از آثار میرزا حبیب اصفهانی مشهور به حبیب افندی ــ ادیب ایرانی و روشنفکر تجددطلب دورۀ قاجار ــ که آن را به زبان ترکی عثمانی نوشته و به سلطان عبدالحمید دوم عثمانی تقدیم کرده است. این رساله شامل شرح مختصری دربارۀ تاریخ هنر خوشنویسی از صدر اسلام و گسترش آن، شجره‏‏‌‌نامۀ استادوشاگردی و سلسلۀ خوشنویسان، معرفی مکاتب خوشنویسی در دوره‏‏‌‌های گوناگون، طبقه‏‏‌‌بندی خطاطان در دوره‏‏‌‌های زمانی و جغرافیایی در انواع خطوط به انضمام شرح مختصری از حیات و آثار آنان است. افزون بر خوشنویسان، در بخش آخر رساله، هنرمندان مشهور رشته‏‏‌‌های کتاب‏‏‌‌آرایی در ایران و عثمانی تا زمان معاصر نویسنده معرفی شده‏‏‌‌اند. نویسنده در تألیف و تدوین این رساله به تذکره‏‏‌‌های پیشین توجه داشته و بنای کار او بر اساس فشرده‏‏‌‌سازی و ارائۀ چکیده‌ای از اطلاعات این منابع بوده است.<br />هدف این مقاله، معرفی رسالۀ <em>خط و خطاطان</em> و بررسی و مطالعۀ ساختار و ماهیت آن است؛ چرا که این اثر به سبب ملیت ایرانی نویسنده و نیز پرداختن به شرح‏‏‌‌حال بسیاری از خوشنویسان ایرانی ــ که بخش عمده‏‏‌‌ای از کتاب را در بر می‏‏‌‌گیرد ــ به‏‏‌‌عنوان اثر پژوهشی مهم و میراث مشترک ایران و عثمانی شایستۀ توجه است که متأسفانه تاکنون به آن پرداخته نشده است.  https://nf.apll.ir/article_177050_0f5db75a90ef37cbbfe46104e1a839c7.pdf
