Takuk (Rhyton) in Shahnameh?

Abstract
In this mesrā‛ (half line) from the Shahnameh, “yeki bur-e torki cho guri be tan” (tr. [a large cup like] a Turkish red horse like an onager) in the end of the reign of Bahrām, son of Ūrmazd the Sassanid king, there is a mention of a large cup of wine whose name has been corrupted as “bur-e torki”, “pur-e torki” “tur-e torki”. In this article, it is shown that behind these corrupted forms, the difficult word takuk (Pah. takōk; Av. gaō-dana), meaning rhyton, is used to describe the cups in the form of animals such as horses and lions, etc. Presumably, the scribes had not known this word and simplified it in the above ways. In this paper, instead of the three corrupted forms, three suggestions have been proposed of which the third is more probable to be correct: “bur (bōr?) takuki” (rhyton in the form of a red horse), “zar takuki” (a golden rhyton) and “por takuki” (a rhyton  full of wine).
